India and Italy to Establish Joint Working Groups in Space and Automotive Sectors
India and Italy have decided to create joint working groups focusing on the automotive and space industries, while also collaborating in innovative areas such as green hydrogen and biofuels. During the 22nd session of the India-Italy Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation (JCEC), which was co-chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani, both nations emphasized the importance of collaborating in various emerging sectors, including Industry 4.0, aerospace, energy transition, and sustainable mobility.
Focus Areas for Collaboration
The discussions at the JCEC underscored the necessity of joint initiatives in skill development, digital transformation, migration and mobility, as well as global connectivity projects like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). Furthermore, India and Italy recognized the need to enhance cooperation in agriculture and food processing, exploring potential opportunities in sustainable agri-value chains, agricultural machinery, food packaging technologies, and renewable energy. There was also an expressed commitment to facilitate the movement of skilled professionals between the two nations.
